My new learning 15.3.11

Hi, today went great! I have done the P4C (philosophy for children,) we had to answer questions like would we rather have $25 million or friendship? It sounded easy at the start but once we found out what the words really meant, it was so difficult. I chose friendship because I wouldn't like it that much if I was rich because I think that you would be all stuck up.
I also did art with Darryn. We used indian ink and we drew cats(mine was running. I finally got it right after QUITE a few tries, (the way that I wanted it).
Thanks I really can't wait until next week (-;
Bye for now!

Flexible timetabling

At Enrich we have started flexible timetabling, I find it really good because I am learning how to manage my own time, instead of doing one thing all day we have a list of things we can do or we have to do today. I am going to finish off my still life painting.

Passion Project

Ruby, your project ended up being a very big learning curve. The process around chocolate making was more complex than you had imagined and looking at fair trade opened your eyes to a whole new world. You showed real empathy as you began to understand child labour and how these people were treated. Throughout your research and the trial and error of chocolate making you had to gather data through all of your senses and think flexibly on how to perfect the recipe.
During your whole project you were committed to the task and never gave up even when the chocolate turned into a disaster! Well done Ruby, keep up the great work. All the best for next year.

Passion project

This is the keynote that I made to show what I learnt I the passion project time (term 3 and 4)
This also shows about fair trade and how it is much better. Remember you can pause the slide if you want to have a bit more time to look at the slide, enjoy!

Reflection

During my passion project I think I have used these habits of mind:
Questioning and Posing Problems, when I was searching for just the right recipe when it didn't turn out I had to think back and think about why and what could have caused the problem.
Persisting, when the chocolate was taking a while to get ready to set in the fridge, and had to keep making the recipes over again to get them right.
Thinking Flexibly when I had to find out a way to keep that recipe but modified it a bit for example so it doesn't taste to sandy: use different milk powder or if it is to runny: use a bit more kermelta.
Managing impulsivity when I had to wait for the chocolate to set and it took quite a while. But I think I have got it now, I also kept trying to get the recipes right.

My new learning 3/11/10

Today I made chocolate 2 batches I think the second batch turned out better the first one because it was a bit sandy. The second batch was nice and glossy. The reason that I made three batches is so I can find out which one is the best, I am going to find that out by asking the children to see which batch I will sell.
